Watermelon Daiquiri

Refreshingly icy Watermelon Daiquiri with watermelon slices and a few mint leaves for garnish.

Slightly sweet, colorful and oh so summery, this Watermelon Daiquiri made with Vrum and fresh fruit is both thirst quenching and refreshing. Along the same lines as the Classic Daiquiri, but with significantly less lime, this fruit forward cocktail is truly outstanding. After a making these a few times, I now also recommend choosing seedless watermelon and waiting to make this particular cocktail until watermelons are in season. (For us located here in the Pacific Northwest, the closest watermelons come from California between May – September.)

This recipe easily doubles with minimal effort as long as your blender has enough volume to handle the watermelon.

Ingredients

  • Party Ice
  • 1.25 oz white Vrum
  • .75 oz watermelon liqueur (Schnapps) or watermelon-flavored spirit, such as vodka
  • Juice from ½ lime (approximately .3 oz)
  • 4 oz watermelon (rind and seeds removed, consider choosing a seedless watermelon for ease!)
  • Garnish: Watermelon wedge

Instructions to make a Watermelon Daiquiri

  1. Put a handful of ice in a blender suitable for crushing ice.
  2. Add Vrum, watermelon liqueur, lime juice and fresh watermelon fruit.
  3. Blend until just smooth.
  4. Pour into a hurricane (or other tall) glass and garnish with a suitably sized watermelon wedge.
